Staff Selection Commission (MTS)

SSC MTS or Staff Selection Commission-Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination is a national level exam conducted by SSC for recruitment of candidates in General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments and offices of Government of India. Candidates recruited as multi-tasking staff by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) fall in Pay Band-1 (Rs 5,200-20,200) + Grade Pay Rs 1,800.

SSC MTS Pattern for Paper-I

SSC MTS Paper I is divided into four parts containing total 100 objective-type Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) of 100 marks. Candidates need to complete the paper in online mode in a duration of one and a half hours (90 minutes). For further clarification, candidates can refer the table below:

SSC MTS Marking Scheme for Paper-I:

One mark is allotted for every correct answer in the exam. 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer in the exam.

SSC MTS Pattern for Paper-II:

SSC MTS Paper-II is a descriptive test conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test. In paper-II, candidates have to write a short essay or letter on a given topic in a maximum duration of half an hour (30 minutes). Candidates can write the essay/letter in English/Hindi or any other regional language included in the eighth schedule of the Constitution of India.

SSC MTS Marking Scheme for Paper-II:

There is no negative marking in paper-II of SSC MTS exam. It may be noted that SSC MTS Paper-II is qualifying in nature. That means that marks scored by candidates in this paper are not considered at the time of preparation of SSC MTS merit list. As per the official notification, “The exam is intended to test elementary language skills in view of categorisation of the post as Group-C and in view of job requirements.”
